BODY-Q - Satisfaction with Information

Clinical intent

The BODY-Q is a patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) developed using Rasch Measurement Theory (RMT) to evaluate outcomes in bariatric and body contouring surgery. The Satisfaction with Information scale is one of 30 independently functioning scales within the BODY-Q. It asks patients about their satisfaction with information received from the medical team (surgeons, nurses, staff) regarding their most recent procedure using a 4-point response scale (1 = Very Dissatisfied to 4 = Very Satisfied).

Calculation

Higher scores reflect a better outcome. Items 3, 6, 7, and 10 use special rescoring: "Very Dissatisfied" = 1, "Somewhat Dissatisfied" = 1, "Somewhat Satisfied" = 2, "Very Satisfied" = 3. All other items are scored 1, 2, 3, 4. If missing data is less than 50% of the scale's items, the mean of the completed items is inserted for missing values. The raw summed score is then converted to a Rasch-transformed score from 0 (worst) to 100 (best) using the conversion table below.
